Vellum is one of the oldest materials in history for preserving precious documents. Once made of calfskin, it was prized by record keepers and bookmakers for its smooth writing surface and archival quality. This costly material was eventually replaced by a cotton sheet that closely resembled the animal vellum both in texture and durability.
In 1933 Clearprint set the standard for cotton vellum that has seen few rivals since. Created for engineers, Clearprint produced a transparent sheet of cotton vellum that could be used with ink or pencil. This sheet resisted tearing, buckling and deterioration due to atmosphere, age, heat and light, and remained clean even after erasing. This sheet remains one of our top products today, and provides the standards by which all other Clearprint media is created.
Chartpak has extended the Clearprint line to include media for a wide range of industrial and artistic uses. From xerographic, copypress, and ink jet machines, to fine art vellum for pencil and ink, Clearprint remains the benchmark brand in cotton vellum.
